Feeling So Anxious And Overwhelmed That You Hardly Recognize Yourself Anymore?

Is your mind constantly spinning with fears, worries, and daily to-do lists?

Despite being exhausted at the end of the day, is it impossible for you to relax and fall asleep?

And do you find yourself wishing you could regain a bit of joy and connection to the good things in your life?

Stress and anxiety can make you feel like you’re drowning under the pressure of overwhelming responsibility. Instead of being engaged in or excited about your work, relationships, and life at home, you may feel entirely disconnected from the person you used to be.

This experience is not only frustrating—it can be deeply isolating. Maybe you feel misunderstood, even by the people in your life who are closest to you. Maybe you haven’t talked about how you are feeling with your partner, friends, and loved ones because you’re afraid of letting anyone down. You have taken on so much stress for so long, and you may now think it’s unacceptable to accept help or ask for support.

As a therapist, I’ve seen how anxiety takes many forms, often affecting clients’ relationships and ability to feel confident in themselves and their choices. Whether you’re struggling with the stress of your responsibilities, fears about the future, or general feelings of overwhelm, therapy can help you feel less alone and paralyzed by anxiety.

Anxiety Often Increases As Life Circumstances Shift

Anxiety is one of the most common challenges I see in my counseling practice. It’s often the thing we experience regularly that lets us know something inside needs more attention than we’re giving it. A certain degree of anxiety is normal and to be expected—but when it gets unmanageable to the point of jeopardizing your mental, emotional, and relational health, therapy can help.

You Are Not Alone In Your Worries

It makes so much sense if you feel like you are not okay. Many of us feel anxious as we try to process what we see in the news and on social media.

As parents, for example, we try to live up to what we read in parenting books and are constantly told that we will feel better if we can optimize how we do things. This can make it appear like everyone else is coping better than us, like this is what “normal” looks like—and that it’s so easy to achieve.

The pressure is a lot to deal with, and people don’t always feel comfortable talking about how it’s impacting them. But I assure you that you’re not alone in this feeling; anxiety and overwhelm are some of the most common symptoms I see in the counseling space.

ET Therapy LLC Specializes In Counseling For Anxiety

As a therapist, I view clients’ struggles through a relational lens, aiming to understand how dynamics among clients, their partners, their families, and within themselves are impacting daily life. My counseling services are available to adults of all backgrounds who are struggling with daily feelings of stress, anxiety, and overwhelm. I also specialize in anxiety as it relates to couples work, postpartum and/or parenting stress, and body image issues.

What To Expect

In therapy, I help you slow down with the feeling of anxiety as we explore what it relates to and where it comes from. I find that anxiety is what shows up on the surface, but as you learn to really pay attention to what’s going on, other important emotions come up that often need tending to. Loneliness, sadness, or fear can show up in this process, as can past experiences that connect back to what you’re feeling now. Understanding how and why anxiety manifests can help us get to the root cause and get you unstuck.

While treatment is tailored to each client’s unique experience of anxiety, I will likely draw on aspects of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) when targeting feelings of stress and overwhelm. This approach will help you sit with anxiety—instead of passing over it—as you more thoroughly explore the root of the issue. In learning to slow down and resolve the root cause of your anxiety, you can finally experience a sense of release and forward-moving momentum.

My job as a therapist is to understand you, hear your worries out, and make sense of why you are feeling this way. I am not here to judge or minimize your anxiety but rather to walk alongside you in a way that helps you feel more empowered and less alone.

Common Concerns About Treatment For Anxiety…

  • While I have no doubt that you have a busy schedule, it’s important to remember just how much time the anxiety itself is taking up in your life. Excessive worry eats up a lot of time, making it hard to be efficient. But even more frustrating is the fact that in addition to taking up your time, anxiety strips life of the enjoyment you once felt.

Therapy is not meant to take up more space in your life, but to give back the space that anxiety has taken away. If you want to try it for a few sessions to see how you feel about it, that is absolutely an option! You are in charge of this process, and I aim to design it in a way that feels good for your life and schedule.

  • A lot of people come to therapy with this worry, but I have yet to encounter a client who didn’t have a reason to feel exactly how they feel. As a therapist, I believe that if you can see the full picture of a person—beyond the surface-level symptoms of anxiety—every person makes a lot of sense.

There’s a reason you are experiencing anxiety in this way, and the goal of therapy is to get curious about what that reason is. My goal is to create a warm, validating counseling space, where every aspect of your anxiety is met with acceptance and curiosity.

  • Intimate relationships are so often the source of stress and anxiety, and that is precisely why I specialize in relationships and relational dynamics in my therapy practice.

Conflict with our partners can be incredibly anxiety-inducing, so this is something we can explore together in either individual counseling or couples counseling with your partner. If you aren’t sure which format of counseling will best treat your anxiety, I am available for a free consultation call to help you learn more.
